February 29, 2008 - The Bottle / La Merenda
Well, here it is: the Six in the City finale. In case you missed it, we've announced that February 29, 2008 will be the last Six in the City. To go out in style, we decided to put together a double-header SITC event.
Thank you again for all the good times. Just remember that whether you're originally from Wisconsin or around the world, we're all Milwaukeeans. In honor of the double-header SITC, here's a double-header song for you, inspired by Queen's "We Will Rock You / We Are the Champions":
Buddy you're a boy, make a big noise
Sixin' in the streets, gonna have a big plan some day
You got rum on yo' brain, but not champagne
Sixin' your can thru snow and the rain (sing it!)
We will, we will Six you
We will, we will Six you
Baby you're a woman, Six fan
Dancin' in the street, gonna take on the world some day
You want Bloodies embraced, no big disgrace
Sixin' and scattin' all over the place
We will, we will Six you (sing it!)
We will, we will Six you
Buddy you're an old friend, good friend
Dressin' to the nines, gonna have us a fun Fri-day
You got a smile on yo' face, don’t be late
Somebody better get you there, Six is your fate
We will, we will Six you (sing it)
We will, we will Six you (everybody)
We will, we will Six you
We will, we will Six you (all night)
We've paid our dues, had a great time
We've done our penance, for committing bad rhymes
Near this Great Lake, we've had a few
We've hit our share of pubs, Sixed with some grace
And we've met you
We are Milwaukeeans, my friends
And we'll keep on Sixing, 'til the end
We are Milwaukeeans
We are Milwaukeeans
No time for snoozers
'Cause we are Milwaukeeans…
From the world
We'd taken our vows, made stops 'n calls
We got acclaim and fortunately you chose to Six
We thank you all
And it's been a bed of roses - our pleasure, too
We considered it a challenge before the whole social state
And we weren't gonna lose
We are Milwaukeeans, my friends
And we'll keep on Sixing, 'til the end
We are Milwaukeeans
We are Milwaukeeans
No time for snoozers
'Cause we are Milwaukeeans…
From the world
We are Milwaukeeans, my friends
And we'll keep on Sixing, 'til the end
We are Milwaukeeans
We are Milwaukeeans
No time for snoozers
'Cause we are Milwaukeeans…

January 18, 2008 - Brocach
Happy 2008, everyone! The first Six in the City of 2008 will be January 18. Hopefully your December wasn't too long - since the last SITC we've seen snow come and go, holidays slip away, and New Years filled with cheer. If it was too long of a December, we've got a song for you courtesy of Counting Crows:
A long December, and there's reason to believe
Maybe this year will be as good as the last
I can't remember, the last thing that you said as we were meeting
Now the days go by so fast
And it's one Fri-day up at the Sixin'
And it's one great night in "Millywood"
If you think that Six might be fun livin'
I think it should
(Nah nah-nah nah, nah nah-nah, nah-nah, nah-nah nah nah)
(Nah nah-nah nah, yeah)
The smell of cocktails in the winter
And the feeling that it's all a lot of boys, sirs, and hella girls
All at once you look across the crowded room
To see the way that Six detaches, from the world
And it's one Fri-day up at the Sixin'
And it's one great night in "Millywood"
If you think Six might come to be euphoria
I think it could
(Nah nah-nah nah, nah nah-nah, nah-nah, nah-nah nah nah)
(Nah nah-nah nah, yeah)
Drive up your lakeside manners sometime around 6pm
And talk a little while about the year
I guess the winter makes you laugh a little slower
Makes you talk a little lower
About the times you were a Sixer, and it was a…
Long December and there's reason to believe
Maybe this year will be as good as the last
I can't remember all the times I tried to tell my myself
To hold on to these moments as they pass
And it's one Fri-day up at the Sixin'
And it's one great night in "Millywood"
It's been so long and we've seen devotion... I guess it's good
(Nah nah-nah nah, nah nah-nah, nah-nah, nah-nah nah nah)
(Nah nah-nah nah, yeah)
(Nah nah-nah nah, nah nah-nah, nah-nah, nah-nah nah nah)
(Nah nah-nah nah, yeah)

December 7, 2007 - Bruno's / Listwan's
The last SITC of 2007 is going to be the most festive Six ever! Read below for details. This month we had Lita Ford write us a little song:
I went to a party last Saturday night
I couldn’t see straight, I stayed out all night
Uh-huh, it ain't no big thing
Late for my job and the traffic is mad
But tomorrow is Six, can’t be so bad
Uh-huh, it ain't no big thing
I went to a party last Saturday night
I told you that story, it’d be alright
Uh-huh, it ain't no big thing
But I know what I like
I know I like Sixin' with you
And I know what you like
I know you like Sixin' with me - yeah, yeah
Six me once
Six me twice
Come on pretty baby, Six me deadly
Had a few beers, gettin' by
Sittin', watchin' the folks go by
Uh-huh, it ain't no big thing
Somethin’ to see, on this Brady
Hookin’ up the furor called S-I-T-C
Uh-huh, it ain't no big thing
But I know what I like
I know I like Sixin' with you
And I know what you like
I know you like Sixin' with me - oh, yeah
Six me once
Six me twice
Come on pretty baby, Six me deadly
Six me once
Six me twice
Come on pretty baby, Six me deadly
You know I like Sixin' with you
Sixin' with you, come on!
Six me once
Six me twice
Come on pretty baby, Six me deadly
Six me once
Six me twice
Come on pretty baby, Six me
Come on pretty baby, Six me
Come on pretty baby, Six me deadly

November 16, 2007 - The Palomino Bar
So, it's been a little while since we did a spoof of a song for the email, so this month we asked a can of Pabst to write our own little "bohemian rhapsody" for us...
Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide
An escape in the mad city
Open your eyes
Look out in the skies and see
I'm just a tall boy, I’ve got no sympathy
Because it’s easy come, easy go
Some on-time, some so slow
Anywhere the Six goes, doesn't really matter to me, to me
Drama, just chill my man
Got a pun inside your head
With some vigor, you will head
Come-on, life has just begun
So don’t be mean and drink me yet today
Come-on, ooh-ooh-ooh-oooh
Didn't mean to make things dry
If I'm not back again this time tomorrow
Carry on, carry on, cuz Sixin’ really matters
Too late, my time has come
Sends shivers down my spine
Bodies ditchin’ all their limes
Good times, everybody - there’s tots, you know
Guess I’ll leave you all behind and face the truth
Mama, ooh-ooh-ooh-oooh (anywhere the Six goes)
I don't want to die
I sometimes wish I'd never been a Pabst at all
I see a little silhouetto of a can
Sweet vermouth, sweet vermouth! It takes two for the tango
Hundred bill, enlightening, very very frightening me
Palomino (Palomino!)
Palomino (Palomino!)
Palomino, Six did go (magnifico-o-o-oh!)
I'm just a tall boy, everybody loves me
He's just a tall boy, from the Pabst family
Spare him his life, you Six in the City
Easy come easy go, will you let me go?
Bismillah! No, we will not let you go (let him go!)
Bismillah! We will not let you go (let him go!)
Bismillah! We will not let you go (let me go!)
Will not let you go (let me go) (never)
Never let you go
Never let me go, oh
Go, go, go, go, go, go, go!
Oh mama mia, mama mia
Mama mia, let me go
"Beelzedub" has a Red Bull put aside for thee, for thee, for thee!
So you think you can store me and drink me tonight?
So you think you can chug me and leave me to die?
Oh baby, can't do that to me baby
Just gotta get out, just gotta get right outta here
Ooh yeah, ooh yeah
Sixing really matters, anyone can see
Sixing really matters, Sixing really matters, to me
Anywhere the Six goes...

March 16, 2007 - Cafe Hollander
Just remember, you never have to worry about Daylight Savings Time with Six in the City because "It's always 6:00 somewhere!"
So, we were trying to think of a word to rhyme with 'Hollander'... And we thought, what were those things that Devo wore on their heads in that "Whip It" video? Were those 'colanders'? Or flower pots, or what? And then we decided that it just doesn't matter, because:
When a problem comes along
You must Six it
Before the Beam sits out too long
You must Six it
When something's going wrong
You must Six it
Now Six it
Into shape
Shake it up
Get straight
Go forward
Move ahead
Try to respect it
It's not too late
To Six it
Six it good

March 9, 2007 - Casablanca
Got Six? The Journal Sentinel does. If you didn't see Friday's article on Six in the City and other social networking groups, check it out here.
And now for a classic song from a classic movie:
You must remember this
A Six is just a Six, a Fri is just a Fri
The fundamental things apply
As time goes by
And with the Sixin' crew
They all say, "How you do?"
On that you can rely
No matter what the future brings
As time goes by
Twilight & fun throngs, never out of date
Artful and fashion, y'all will stay out late
We all meet as planned, and some will celebrate
That, no one can deny
It's still the same old story
A fight for fun & glory
A case of "see you Fri"
The world will always welcome Sixers
As time goes by
|
THIS WEEK'S SITC: |
|
Casablanca will have the following this Friday:
$5 martinis
$2 domestic beers
$5 hookahs

March 2, 2007 - Monica's
Last week we were Ridin' the Storm Out at SITC, but this week we're Back on the Road Again, because Only the Strong Survive. You know you Can't Fight This Feeling, the feeling that you have to go to SITC and miss REO playing in town. And, you know what? That's OK. SITC will be a ton more fun, and REO will completely understand if you miss their show - they'll always Keep On Loving You. So, in true SITC style, we're going to alter some song lyrics for you, so bear with us and Roll With the Changes:
------------------------------------------------
Heard it from a friend who
Heard it from a friend who
Heard it from another you've been Sixin' around
You say you wanna meet friends
Stay out late every weekend
You're thinkin' about Six, the talk of the town
And you know the neighborhood
The drinks are cheap, inventory is good
And the tales grow taller on down the vine
And I'm tellin' you, babe
That I do think it's cool, babe
As always when you're out, keep Six in mind
You drink another rum, baby
If that's the way you want it, baby
Then I do want you around
I can't conceive it
2-for-1 gimlets?
You're under the gun so you drink another rum....
------------------------------------------------
Well, it's Time for Me to Fly, so without further ado, here's this week's SITC:
|
THIS WEEK'S SITC: |

Great turnout at SITC the last few weeks despite the cold weather. This week is another special Six in the City, in that it will be at the long-awaited venue of a couple fellow SITC members!!! Check out the OnMilwaukee.com article (link below) for more information.
This week's venue, La Merenda, is an international tapas restaurant & bar, with cuisine and beverages drawing inspiration from Asia, Europe, North Africa, the Caribbean, and North & South America. La Merenda is Italian for "snack" and also refers to an Italian custom of evening socializing and gathering to share food and drink amongst friends and family. La Merenda definitely embraces the spirit of one of our mottos: "It's always 6:00 somewhere!"
|
THIS WEEK'S SITC: |

February 9, 2007 - Martini Mike's
This week's email is brought to you by Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons! Everyone sing along
to "December, 2003 (Oh, What a Night)"...
Oh, what a night
Late December, back in 2003
Such a very boring time, you see
I remember, what a plight
Oh, what a night
You know we didn't even have the name
But life was never gonna be the same
Six upgrading, what a night
Oh I, I got a funny feeling when we called - Velvet Room
And I, as I recall Six bended up the room
Oh, what a night
Hip, enticing, mesmerizing me
Six was everything I dreamed it'd be
Sweet Six splendor, what a night!
I felt the rush, such a growing local wonder
Sixin' my neck around, avoiding social blunders
Oh, what a night!
Oh I, I got a funny feeling when we called - Velvet Room
And I, as I recall Six bended up the room
Oh, what a night
Why'd it take so long to see the light?
Seems so strong, and yes, it seems so right
Six upgrading, what a night
I felt the rush, such a growing local wonder
Sixin' my neck around, avoiding social blunders
Oh, what a night!

September 22, 2006 - Bayou
Well, we said last week's Six was going to be hot, and WOW, was it hot - great turnout, fun dancing! We also said there would be plenty of cerveza; apparently we were a little off on that, especially if you were drinking Negra Modelo! But thanks so much to La Perla Tequila Bar for their hospitality and especially to the bartenders for working so hard.
This Friday's SITC should also be ragin' - this cajun venue's only been open a week. So this Friday, after the long work week, remember to come to... "Suffragette City"? Nope, Six-in-the City!
Hey man - Don't leave me alone, you know
Hey man - Oh Billy, get the Merlot, I gotta
Hey man - I gotta head to this place
With fellows at Six, I got a smile on my face
Hey man - my workday's insane
Hey man - my work's down the drain
Hey man - it's a total grand slam
You know you gotta seize that, Bayou-tini
Oh don't lean on me man
'Cause you can't afford to miss it
We're back to Sixin' the City
Oh don't lean on me man
'Cause there ain't no way to wreck it
You know my Six-in-the City
Is outta sight
It's all night
Hey man - Bobby, help me unwind, to-day
Hey man - We can have a good time, you say?
Hey man - Choose the gold mashed here?
There's only room for fun and here it comes, here it comes
Oh don't lean on me man
'Cause you can't afford to miss it
We're back to Sixin' the City
Oh don't lean on me man
'Cause there ain't no way to wreck it
You know my Six-in-the City
Is outta sight
It's all night

March 3, 2006 - Landmark Lanes
Without further ado, we bring you Vanilla Ice singing the rhyme of the week:
Yo, VIP... Let's Six it!
Six Six Baby, Six Six Baby
All right stop, collaborate and listen
Six is back, it's so grand - no pretension
Something, grabs a hold of me tightly
I go to the sa-loon, not daily but nightly
Will it ever stop? Yo, I don't know
On Friday nights, we will go
To the extreme, we rock the nights like a vandal
Fill up the place, wearin' pumps or some sandals
Dance, fun, Friday night resumes
Fulfilling your dreams like a masquerade costume
Deadly, when I bowl a mean game ya see
Anything less than 300 is a travesty
Roll it or heave it, you better make way
You better get a strike, a spare don't pay
Ya got a social problem? Yo, we'll solve it
Get down, unhook, while the Sixin' revolves it
Six Six Baby (will thrill ya), Six Six Baby (will thrill ya)
Six Six Baby (will thrill ya), Six Six Baby (will thrill ya)
Now that the party is bumpin'
All the ladies groovin' and the fellas are jumpin'
Head to the joint, to the joint - no faking
Meetin' our peeps, downtown, in the basement
Earnin' more, tryin' to spend a dimple
I go crazy, when I reminisce about Gimbel's
Where's the vibe at? At the Landmark Lanes, yo
I'm on a roll and it's time to go solo
Bowlin', at the 6-0-0
With my friends in town, total apropos
The arcade on standby, thinkin' I'll just fly by
Did you stop? No - it's Sixin' time
Kept on, pursuing to the Six flock
I busted a left, and I headed to the next block
That block was dead, yo
So I continued to... 2220, Farwell Avenue!
Specials were hot, rail mixers 'n some brewskies
'N lots of others - sorry, no martinis
Zealous, 'cause it's our Sixin' time
Mingling's all the rage, like the lemon and the lime
Ready, for some fun with y'all
Some fun and some thrills, like the Brewers and the baseball
Buns/brats - it's spring, can you tell?
It's 5:59, let's run like hell!
Sprinting, down the hallway so fast
Jumped in my car, slammed on the gas
Bumper to bumper, North Avenue's stacked
I'm trying to get inside, 'fore the place gets packed
We race to convene, you know what I mean
Some pass me up, convergin' on the scene
Ya got a social problem? Yo, we'll solve it
Get down, unhook, while the Sixin' revolves it
Six Six Baby (will thrill ya), Six Six Baby (will thrill ya)
Six Six Baby (will thrill ya), Six Six Baby (will thrill ya)
Take heed, 'cause I'm a lyrical poet
Milwaukee's got scene, just in case you didn't know it
Our town, with the places and the beats throwin'
Enough to shake and make holes in the Hoan
'Cause our style's got a tentacle feel
Reasonable times that you can vision and feel
Conducted and formed, Six is a hell of a concept
We make it hype... And you wanna Six
With us
Milwaukee's on the stage
Nice, it's so mint, yeah, fresh like a lemonade
So rad, other cities say, "damn"
With good times and some clubs, I'll tell it to ya, ma'am
We need some closure, so it's time for Grey Goose
Vodka tonic with a lime, maybe a gin 'n juice?
Ya got a social problem? Yo, we'll solve it
Get down, unhook, while the Sixin' revolves it
Six Six Baby (will thrill ya), Six Six Baby (will thrill ya)
Six Six Baby (will thrill ya), Six Six Baby (will thrill ya)
Yo man, let's get out of here! Word to your Sixer!

February 10, 2006 - Swig
This week in Six...welcome to the Greatest Six Hits series! Swig was the winner of the first poll in which we repeat great Sixes of yesteryear. We'll hold a couple more of these polls this winter/spring season, so stay tuned.
Right, so, just a reminder that this week's hip venue will most certainly *NOT* be playing the Spice Girls. Nonetheless...
Yo, I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want,
So tell me what you want, what you really really want,
I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want,
So tell me what you want, what you really really want,
I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna
I wanna really really really wanna head-to-Swig, ahhhh
If you want a few chairs, and lots of class
If you wanna get 'Tinis, better make it fast
Now don't go wasting, your precious time
Get your act together, it will be sublime
I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want,
So tell me what you want, what you really really want
I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna
I wanna really really really wanna head-to-Swig, ahhhh
If you wanna meet some others, you cannot Six with shy friends
Make it last forever, friendship never ends
If you wanna meet some others, you must not forget
Sixing is so easy, that's the way it is
What do you think about that?
Now you know how I feel
Say you can handle the grub, it's a great deal
It's oh so tasty, so give it a try
If you're really busy, we'll just say "drop by..."
Yo I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want
So tell me what you want, what you really really want
I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna
I wanna really really really wanna head-to-Swig, ahhhh
If you wanna meet some others, you cannot Six with shy friends
Make it last forever, friendship never ends
If you wanna meet some others, you must not forget
Sixing is so easy, that's the way it is
So here's a story from Water Street
You wanna Six with me, you gotta listen carefully
We got S in the place, who likes the little vase
We got C and two G's who like the rum and
Easy B doesn't want Chablis (nor a Pink Lady)
And at 6p...you'll see
Everybody's down - the wine is all around
Everybody's down - the wine is all around
If you wanna meet some others, you cannot Six with shy friends
Make it last forever, friendship never ends
If you wanna meet some others, you must not forget
Sixing is so easy, that's the way it is

You gotta, you gotta, you gotta, you gotta
You gotta Six, Six, Six, Six!

November 18, 2005 - Yanni's Steakhouse
SPECIAL NOTE: Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, there will be no Six in the City on November 25. The last two SITCs of 2005 are November 18 and December 2 - after that SITC goes on break 'til January 2006.
So, does anyone remember The Hooters? You know, the song "And We Danced"? Well, here's a little Six in the City rendition for you:
She was a bebop baby on a Fri-day night
She was hangin' at Yanni's, he was feelin' alright
Well I could see them coming from a block away
There was no use balking, there was nowhere to stray
So the plan became to stay and stay
And we Sixed
Like the Flav and the Nielson, we mixed
We were stylish - so much - and we Sixed
Swept away for a moment by this
And we Sixed and Sixed and Sixed
I'm with my bebop baby up from City Hall
Pourin' taps all night and shakin' crazy highballs
When I saw her dial across the crowded room
I said, "Phew - we barely made this fine saloon!"
As the place began to run out of room
And we Sixed
Like the Flav and the Nielson, we mixed
We were stylish - so much - and we Sixed
Swept away for a moment by this
And we Sixed and Sixed and Sixed

October 28, 2005 - County Clare
Great turnouts lately, it's been a lot of fun! This Friday promises to be another jolly evening. This week's announcement is a special Irish rendition of "Livin' on a Prayer"!!!
Once upon a time, not so long ago...
Paddy used to pass out shamrocks
Union's been on strike
He's down on his luck...it's tough, so tough
Gina works airliners all day
Working for "the man"
She ends her Fri-days...at pubs, and clubs
She says we've got to go out, to this sweet spot
It doesn't make a difference if you're Irish or not
We've got each other, and that's a lot of fun
So give Six a shot!
Whooah, we're halfway there
Whooah, Sixin' County Clare
Take a friend - we'll mingle, I swear
Whooah, Sixin' County Clare
Paddy's got his six-figure stocks
Now he's cashin' in
'Cause he needs to make a buck...so much, it's tough
Gina dreams of clubbin' all day
When she buys Miller Lite
Paddy whispers, "Baby it's okay...don't sway"
You've got to go out, to this sweet spot
It doesn't make a difference if you're Irish or not
We've got each other, and that's a lot of fun
So give Six a shot!
Whooah, we're halfway there
Whooah, Sixin' County Clare
Take a friend - we'll mingle, I swear

October 14, 2005 - Swingin' Door
This week's venue is a favorite Milwaukee "corner bar" of some of the SITC organizers. So favorite, in fact, that it is often referred to in code so that others won't find out about it. You may often hear these SITC organizers referring to it by such related terms as the "Rotating Portal" or "Revolving Escalator" or "Gyrating Threshold", or by such completely random terms as the "Purple Platypus" or "Rusty Rectangle" or "Crazy Spoon."
Whatever you wish to call it, get there this Friday to see what this historic landmark is all about! (And read the OMC article below for a good description, too!)
